Gardening question - hedge shrubs, zone 6?

I live in zone 6 with heavy clay soil. I want to plant a privacy hedge that will reach about 6 feet high along my back fence. It gets tons of good sunlight but not a lot of water unless it rains. Any ideas out there for low-maintenance, quick growing shrubs or bushes that would fit this scenario?

INTERNET CONNECTION PROBLEM plss HELP!?

As for the cost of the marina, I can't say, as it depends on which marina you go to, most will have a website where you can e-mail or call. You don't need a liscence, but you will need to register it every year. If you don't want to keep your boat at a marina, then you can buy a mooring from a yacht club and have that registered every year. To get your boats in and out of the water, you need a crane or a forklift, which most marinas have. As for the type of boat, maybe look a J-80. They're pretty comfortable and there's plenty of room. (about 26 feet) Oh yes and maybe some sailing lessons...

I used to work at Future Shop and we had the same warranty. Was it physical damage? With anything they send back on the first three repairs it will always be refurbished (not your own, usually it is someone else's fixed item). We called it the "no lemon" guarantee. If you have problems with it keep bringing it back. Hopefully you can get it sent out twice more before your year left of warranty is up. Apple also has wierd policys about what they will and won't fix on an ipod, and when they'll do it, but I'm not familiar with it myself, as I sold the warranty on xboxs, ps3s, etc. Other than that, you should try to contact someone higher in Apple directly. When they give you a refurbished unit it should at least LOOK like the same unit you sent out, shouldn't it?

Adopting a Cat.?

I want to adopt a cat at a local shelter I went to today. There are about 4 cats that I am deciding between and have a few questions. I really like Maine Coons and they have a few of them. My dad used to have one and the shelter has a female that reminds me exactly of her....in looks though, not personality. She was abused when she was younger (she is 4 yrs old now) and seems very shy and protective. When I put my hands near her she would be playful but bite also. I am not sure she would do well with other people. Can Cats change over time with a new owner and become more outgoing? I live by myself with no other animals but do have friends over now and then. My Boston Terrier puppy chases my 2 cats & jumps on thier head & all over my dog licking.., she wants to play soo bad but no one (but me) will play with her making her chase & jump even more trying to get them to play. She doesn't do this with dogs+ that play with her only to the ones who wont play. The cats are scared of her & run from being chased & jumped on, the cats dont play like that & my dog is a very mellow 10 yr old American Eskimo who doesnt realy play like she does, not sure if its because he never really did & doesnt have her energy, the breed or just cause he's older now. I realllly wish I could get him to play with others, he just likes his sqeeky toys. He's so mellow & doesn't want much to do with playing with the puppy. 39weeks and lost my plug mucus. How can i help the contractios come faster?

How to get my dog to rest?

To make sure it gets enough rest, when you are making your dog rest put it in a comfortable cage with blankets. No toys inside or it will think its time to play in there. the enclosure/cage should be big enough to be comfy but not big enough to run around in. Thats what I did with my dog when she was a puppy and wouldn't take her naps like the breeder said she was- it worked! make sure your near though because i doubt your dog would be settled alone. and try and keep it in a quiet spot too... Need Help!! My dog and my moms' dog fight everytime they see each other?

My dog and my moms' dog were introduced when they were 11 and 13 weeks old they are now 5 months and 7 months. My dog is a german shepherd/husky named Violet and hers is a Golden Retriever/Poodle named Addy. They got along perfectly up until about 1 1/2 months ago. Now every time they come face to face Violet starts to attack Addy. When Addy was little she would get mad at Violet and relentlessly bark at her for playing with her toys which would result in Violet giving it up and Addy getting her way. At about 4 months Addy started Violet while they would play to establish her dominance. Through out all of those little things that would happen Violet never got aggressive with her. My parents used to be really sweet to Violet and give her tons of attention but since the fighting they ignore her. I'm wondering if her acting out and starting fights with Addy is due to feeling pushed away by my parents? Any thoughts?

Having worked for a vet that did all the spay/neutering for the local Humane Society, I would vote for a county sponsored spay/neuter clinic. Or a mandatory spay/neuter program with an exception of a breeder. Maybe you could also have a registration program at minimal cost to help cut down on abandoned pets. People abandon their pets because they can't afford them or the pet isn't what they thought it would be. If someone does move into your community, you could offer them either program, spay/neuter and/or registration or both. At least the pet will be registered and would help prevent abandonment.

Just a long shot but what transmission do you have? If it is the 700r4 try adjusting the tv or throttle valve cable this determines when the line pressure in the trans builds up . If not adjusted correctly it will cause late or early shifting depending on throttle position . Just push the on on the end of the cable hooked to the carb and it should release tension on cable then . Push the gas pedal to the floor and release the on on the cable as it adjust you may hear a ratchetting or clicking sound after you have adjusted the cable take it for a spin and see how it drives hope this helps .

How did you teach your baby to use a spoon?

It's messy but it's adorable. What I did was let my daughter start with a fork first, the gerber baby forks. I put her food in front of her and helped her stab it at first and have fun. When she couldn't do it on her own, I put the food on the fork for her and let her guide it into her mouth. She still doesn't have the hang of it and most times I have to put the food on the fork for her, but she feeds herself that way and has fun. As far as those suction bowls, I agree with another poster....our little one just pulled the bowl right up and mom had to mop. I give her a spoon while I have a spoon too. I let her dip a bit into whatever we're eating and let her put it in her mouth. Little bits here and there and I figure she'll get the hang of it eventually. I tried the spoons with the holes and I swear they were worse. So again, little bits on the spoon and if she wants to hold whatever food it is, I put a bit in a container and I mean a TINY BIT and let her have fun. Eventually she loses interest and wants me to feed her but I let her go for as long as she wants to so that she can learn slowly.

I think my brother is taking drugs? What should I do, I'm scared?

My brother is 21 years old, he has legal custody of me because our parents died a while back when he was 18. I'm 12 years old about to turn 13, and I think my brother is taking drugs. Three or four times a week he will tell me he is going to the supermarket (around 5:00pm or 6:00pm eastern standard time) and then not be back until the next morning. But when I see him in the morning he looks and acts drunk. I know that he's 21 and that he might just be enjoying his first few years of drinking- but my brother is a responsible person and I know he wouldn't leave me home all night if it was just a decent amount of alcohol he was taking. My aunt is a really big help and is there for me a lot when my brother is away at college. He made some new friends there and I'm worried they might be influencing him to take drugs. The last time he pulled an "all-nighter" I called my aunt and she called his cell phone. She said that when he picked up, he sounded very high and that there were a lot of people hollering and yelling around him, and he hung up after about 15 or 20 seconds. How can I help my daughter?

She tore her ACL and had surgery on Aug 20 to repair it. She can not play soccer again for almost a year. She is completely bummed about it. Her soccer team played a tournament last weekend and after each game she spent about an hour crying because she couldn't play and it will take so long for her to be able to play again. She gets really down about having to be injured, having surgery, go through the pain, be on crutches for so long, go through physical therapy, etc. She has played soccer since she was 3 so she doesn't ever remember NOT playing. New mom needing help with feeding?

baby is 9 days old. Baby wants to nurse very frequently, and for a short amount of time, and then usually falls off to sleep. I try to awaken her with wipes and such but it usually doesn't work to try and get her to eat more at a time. She awakens also usually very soon after I put her down. Some feedings may be five minutes and then 30 minutes or so or an hour later she wants more. Am I doing something to cause this problem with the short feedings? She won't sleep very much at a time either? Please help

Why is my car leaking a rusty coloured watery substance?

My car, a nissan pulsar 1995 is leaking out a rusty kind of liquid. I have no idea what it is. The night before my "check light" came on so I put oil and water in and then this morning I was driving to work and the "check" light was still on. Male cat that recently had crystals in his urine?

Our male neutered cat is about 2 1/2 years old. (We adopted him). About 6 weeks ago, he became ill and spent the day at the vet being"flushed out" because of crystals in his urine. He was put on 2 meds. and given a prescription food, Science Diet, SD. The vet said to keep him on this food for 2 months. OK, I went to pick up another bag of the food yesterday, now the vet said that he will now need Science Diet CD for the rest of his life for maintainence for this problem. I am really new to cats and want to know your experiences with this problem. A friend told me to put him on Purina One Urinary Trac Health Food. What do you all think since I am new to all this? I want to do the best I can for the cat, but is this really necessary or it the vet just trying to push Science Diet as I know they do with dogs. ( I am not a fan of Science Diet to begin with). 2002 Chevy Impala terrible reduced gas mileage!!?

2002 Impala has 160,000 mi, I was getting 29/31 mpg. Now I get a whopping 11 miles per gallon. It's sickening. We've changed the O2 sensors, flushed the radiator, spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter. No gas smell in the car or at the exhaust, no black smoke coming from the exhaust. I've also experienced delayed shifting going into 2nd gear right after the car is started as well as sputtering while I'm stuck in stop and go traffic. Any input would be very, very helpful.

Slime on my pacman frog?

I have absolutely no clue what the onomatopoeia is. Personification, however, I do. It is how you show the personality, traits, demeanor, etc. of your character. Without it, you characters are just blobs that talk in monotone voices with no emotions or feels. Personification defines who and what those characters are. Hi I don't have a child with SPD but I have friends who have a Son who has SPD and I watched him for the first year and half of his life during the day so I know what you go threw alls you can do is your best and get him all the help out there that there is to get him I know my friends get him speech therapy and occupational therapy and he also goes to a half day school 3 days a week so he is with other kids his age. I do have a child with serve ADHD and he goes into rages I have to restrain him also know as theutic hold sometimes so he doesn't hurt his self or break something and when I restrain him I will blow on his face what calms him down when your son gets this way you can try holding him rubbing his arm, hair, blowing in his face, etc. try different things to calm him down and try not to overstimulate him threw out the day good luck and stay strong I see my Friends Son improving stay positive and remember you are your Sons voice get him all the help he needs.

I read the answers of all the others that responded, and while I agree that all war in mans history has not been tied to oil I will say that since WWI oil has been the deciding factor. Not only that but I would state that if things continue at current rates, oil will be the new reason for wars, instead to being merely the factor that determines the winner of such wars. Obviously, this is simplifying things, as we all know that there are other factors involved in why nations go to war, but at this point and time in history, oil is the tie that binds most if not all of those other factors. I totally disagree with the idea that flex fuel vehicles are the answer, as you will only be trading one combustible for another and will in the end only further entangle peoples daily lives with the true problem which is not oil per say, but energy. You would, regardless of statement to the contrary, cut into world food supplies in a manner that would guarantee war even faster than oil itself ever could. I agree that alternative need to be developed, yet I believe that the answer in the very short term is a better use of current sources until the next technology is perfected. For example, we need better utilize our solar, wind, hydroelectric, natural gas and nuclear power in a manner that drastically cuts our dependence on oil be it foreign or domestic.

Studying for my zoology and wondering how important the actual degree is compared to experience?

Why didnt anything happen last night?

i took a trip with friends for the week to visit a friend at college in the midwest. we got in yesterday and went out to dinner with her roommate. later, we went out to the bars, where she sat next to me and we started talking. eventually we got to playfully holding hands and flirting. because i was supposed to sleep in the house on a couch in the front landing, she offered me her couch in her room because the front landing is very cold at night. once we were all back i brought my stuff to her room and when she closed her door, we were standing in the room and I went in to kiss her which she was receptive to. when we stopped, she said to me "youre sleeping there (the couch) tonight" obviously a reference to not sleeping in her bed (she has a queen). i understood this because it was 2am and she had to be in to work in the campus labs at 9. when i asked her if there is a chance i could sleep there in the coming nights, she said "maybe." before we turned the light out, she said she has an irritating alarm that might wake me up and something about jumping on her to wake her up because she is a heavy sleeper. so this morning that alarm sounded and she didnt turn it off so i got up to do it and when i was next to her bed she pulled me onto the bed and we proceeded to cuddle until she had to get out of bed. i kissed her again to see if anything more might happen but she seemed not to want to do anything of the heavy petting nature. we are staying for 3 more nights and i ume ill at least be able to stay in her room on the couch because of the other couch being in a cold room. theres not really any chance we could date because we live and go to college 10 hours away. at the bars last night i made sure not to get sloshed because she was not drinkin a lot because she had to get up early today. how should i proceed in the next few days?
