Please explain this on the Monistat package?

I bought a treatment for a yeast infection at the store, but the leaflet says not to use it unless I have been diagnosed by a doctor. I've never had one before. Why must you be diagnosed by a doctor? If you took monistat and didn't have a yeast infection, what would the problem be?
