Gardening question - hedge shrubs, zone 6?

I live in zone 6 with heavy clay soil. I want to plant a privacy hedge that will reach about 6 feet high along my back fence. It gets tons of good sunlight but not a lot of water unless it rains. Any ideas out there for low-maintenance, quick growing shrubs or bushes that would fit this scenario?
