I need a good cookie recipe?

I have to make a lot of cookies for my cousins graduation party. I want them to be soft and chewy. I was thinking of making chocolate chip cookies but if anyone has any other ideas with some good recipes that'd be cool to! The other thing is when I make my chocolate chip cookies they either turn out hard or taste too ery, anyone know how to fix that? Or does anyone have a good recipe that is soft and doesn't taste ery? lol thanks!
