Settlers in the South expanded the traditions already perused in the South, such as slavery and cotton. The orders of society were also exppanded to areas settled by the South. In the old Northwest, most settlers were of Northern affiliation. There was indigo and wheat, but not really any slavery. The North itself was headed more towards the development of industry over agriculture.
