Any tips on Painting coffee table, buffet and strip and restain an end table?

The solid wood table can be sanded down, stained and varnished. You mat want to consider black walnut stain and this usually take 2 to 3 coats of stain to achieve the darkness. Laminate can't be stained or sealed. You can paint it. Apply a coat of "Kilz" to the laminate. This is a primer and sealer, dries quickly and is water based for easy clean-up. Choose the color of paint you want and go with an interior latex enamel. 2 coats are required here. You could use a water based polyurethane over this but check the can for recommendations and do a test on a scrap piece of wood to mimic the final application.
